Top Prospect Brewers

Yovani Gallardo
Throws R
Height 6'-2"
Weight 190
Age, Dob 20, 2/27/86
Birthplace Fort Worth, Texas
Selected in round 2 of the 2004 June draft.

Relatively unknown pitching prospect that burst onto the scene last summer after flashing a 93 mph fastball, touching the mid-90s, and a hard breaking, mid-70s curveball at the Area Code Games. Gallardo has good size and shows a decent overall delivery. His mechanics need a little bit of work, and he could add a few more ticks to his fastball once he does so while filling into his body. He has a very live arm, and the ball explodes out of his hand.

Fastball: Gallardo's fastball is extraordinary as it sits about 90-93. But what he doesnt have in velocity, he makes up for in movement. His fastball is live and has some movement. He has good size and is still only 20 so you shouldnt rule out him maybe gaining a tick on the radar.

Curveball: Gallardo has a plus 12 to 6 curveball. It sits in the mid 70s and has hard break to it. It has the potential to be a strike out pitch in the big leagues if it continues to develop.

Changeup: Gallardo has a developing changeup that has early promise to become a big pitch for him. He needs this pitch to pan out in order to keep hitters off balance.

Projection: Gallardo has a decent fastball, great curve, developing change, and plus command. If everyhting can come together for him he many be a solid 1 or 2 more likely sooner then later.
